
Ron Baynes - NFL
Coached and taught at the High School and Junior
College level for 35 years. Inductee into the Alabama High School
Coaches Hall of Fame upon retiring from Coaching. Began officiating
at the High School level in 1970. Officiated for 13 years as a Line
Judge in the Southeastern Conference. Worked 6 College Bowl games
including the Orange Bowl national championship game. In 1987 was
accepted into the NFL where he officiated for 14 years working 2
Super Bowls (29 & 33), 4 NFC-AFC Championship games, the Pro-Bowl
and 5 other playoff games.
In 2001, Baynes moved to New York City and
accepted a Supervisor's position with the NFL. With the NFL, his
specific supervisory responsibilities included being in charge of
the line of scrimmage officials; managing and training the Arena and
Arena2 leagues officials; and along with Mike Pereira developed the
current NFL recruiting program.
Still working for the NFL, Baynes is responsible
for Officiating Development and the league's Recruiting
Co-coordinator. Married to Marie, the Baynes have 6 children and 11
grand kids. The 3 Baynes boys, Allen (NFL), Rusty (Big 12), and Mark
(CUSA), are current and active football officials. Use your Back button or
