Carl
began officiating in 1980 with the Long Beach Unit of the CFOA. During his
tenure there he served on the Board, was a crew chief and an instructor in both
Federation and NCAA classes.
In 1995,
he was honored to follow in his father’s footsteps by being appointed to the
officiating staff of the Pac-10 where he worked for five seasons. He had the
opportunity to work NFL Europe and eventually completed eight seasons there,
three as a deep official and five as a referee.
Following
the 1999 NCAA season where he worked in both the Pac-10 and the WAC, he was
added to the roster of officials in the NFL as a side judge. Carl became a
referee in 2008.
Carl resides in Southern California with is wife Nanette and his two children..
