Billy Smith - NFL
Billy Smith began his collegiate officiating
career in 1981 with the Atlantic Coast Conference JV staff and the
South Atlantic Conference. In 1986 he was moved to the ACC varsity
staff and subsequently worked 5 bowl games. (Peach Bowl, Liberty
Bowl (2) , Sun Bowl and Independence Bowl). He worked for the World
Football League in 1992 & 95 both years working the Championship
Game. In 1994 he joined the National Football League and just
completed his 17th year. During that time he has been assigned 15
post season assignments (5 wild card, 5 division, 2 championship, 2
Pro Bowls,Alt for Super Bowl).
Billy joined the Big 12 and the Southland Conference as an evaluator
and Back Judge trainer in 2006. During that time also has served as
Back Judge trainer for the CFO West. Served as the United Football
League downfield trainer in 2010 and joined the Reno camp staff in
2009.
